Stubblefield Salvage and Recycling, LLC has contracted Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting to assist and provide advice on the best path to reasonable and enviornmentally sound solutions for our scrap metal processing center in Walla Walla.
Horned Owl: Wildlife begins to return to Mill Creek-Myra Rd area.Simultaneously, we have applied to become a member of the Volunteer Cleanup Program with the State of Washington, Department of Ecology. This week we were pleased to have our first site visit by the consulting team and have been contacted by State officials to arrange their site visit in the very near future.
As a result of the determination and commitment of governement, citizens and business owners to work together, over 100 junk vehicles have been removed from the property, more than 500 tons of twisted iron and steel have been sent to foundries and shredder shops. Huge I-beams are being re-used for local bridges, iron pyrite is being recycled by a local inventor for high-tech wire production. An abandoned trailer is being salvaged by a local resident for use in his landscaping business. The local gun club discovered a length of solid iron post to support targets on their range, while a construction company found use for a large piece of flat iron.
Salvaging and recycling work hand-in-hand to benefit our entire business region from Spokane to Yakima, to Pendleton, to Lewiston. While our processing center is located in Walla Walla, nothing is wasted and all materials are processed using the safest and most enviornmentally sound practices available to us today. Both ferrous and nonferrous materials that can be returned to society as useful products are salvaged and re-employed at a much lower cost than new materials. Scrap metals that no longer have a useful life in their current condition are processed and sent on to be turned into new products.
Both salavaging and recycling save cities and towns across America billions of dollars each year in cleanup costs and make our communities more inviting places to live. Our guarantee to our customers is to pay at least 5% more than any other dealer in our region for their scrap metal products. This reduces the need for local and state governments to spend tax dollars to collect and dispose of millions of tons of unwanted items and prevents our landfills from being needlessly over stuffed.
By re-using scrap metal, we are able to produce new metal products at a fraction of the cost it takes to mine ore and we increase the world's ability to conserve our precious natural resources. By working smarter at our processing center, we will be able to reduce our footprint and lessen our impact on the enviornment.
Wild Turkeys: My first wild turkey siting in 50 years on Offner Rd.Although we are a long way from completing our cleanup project, we are already seeing positive results and wildlife beginning to return. This week we discovered a horned owl nested to raise her young, deer and wild turkeys visit our nearby pastures. Cotton-tail bunnies dart in and out of scrap materials and the ever-present magpies remind us some things remain unchanged.
Robins will be here in spring and our new trees and plants will begin to grow. Our established trees will soon be full and green. A scrap metal processing center can be a beautiful thing.
